I’ve gathered about some great fall reads for kids. Some of these “fall” squarely in the kid lit column, while others are more YA, but I wanted to spread the love for all things fall! Check out six of the best children’s books about fall. Make sure to leave your own favorites in the comments!

Yes, the story of Anne is set all year round, but no book has ever encapsulated fall better than Anne does when she says “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.” Plus the CBC mini series pairs perfectly with pumpkin spice.

2. How to Hang a Witch by Adriana Mather

For the teens out there, How to Hang a Witch by Adriana Mather gives off creepy vibes perfect for October. Though this isn’t about fall, per se, much of the action takes place in the fall. Curl up with a cozy blanket (may I suggest this one from Urban Outfitters) and your fall beverage of choice for a creepy day in. And the sequel comes out this week!

3. Heaven to Betsy by Maud Hart Lovelace

In Heaven to Betsy, a middle grade novel about Betsy Ray, a girl growing up in tun of the century Minneapolis, Betsy’s love of both fall and the back to school season is evidently clear. From the way the girls celebrate halloween to Betsy’s description of the leaves changing to her love of freshly sharpened pencils, this middle grade novel is perfect for middle school girls.

4. Fletcher and the Falling Leaves by Julia Rawlinson

For the littler kids, I think Fletcher and the Falling Leaves by Julia Rawlinson is perfect. Fletcher is an adorable little fox who gets worried about his favorite tree as the leaves start to change. So cute!

5. Leaf Man by Lois Elhert

Another book for the elementary school kids is Leaf Man by Lois Elhert. Honestly, I am tempted to buy this book, it is so cute. The illustrations are magical and will hopefully help to foster a love of fall weather and the outdoors in younger kids.

6. The Witch’s Amulet by Lucy Ruggles

Finally, if your kid is a fan of Halloweentown (or you are trying to make them one) the novelizations of Halloweentown are cute, if not great literature. The Witch’s Amulet by Lucy Ruggles tells the story of Marnie and Dylan during a summer break from Witch University.
